A bus-sized lump of food fat mixed with wet wipes has formed in drains under London Road in Kingston-Upon-Thames. Taking three weeks to clear, work is now under way to repair the damage it caused underground. Had the situation not been discovered, raw sewage could have began to spurt out of manholes across Kingston. The previous installation of flusher systems could have prevented the incident, providing continuous drain cleansing and sewer maintenance without the need for human intervention.
